During the process of implementing a new SAP financial system, our client needed the expertise of a Senior Forensic Accountant to solve a challenging General Ledger (GL) account reconciliation. Before the final cutover to the new SAP application could occur, it was critical for them to identify and correct the issues with the current GL reconciliation efforts. Since The Squires Group, Inc. A leading Regional Health System was upgrading to PeopleSoft 9.2 Financials which created a need to improve the reporting capability. Find out how our team identified the right reporting expert that not only could work through complex functional and technical issues to generate in-depth reports but also train the business users on how to analyze the reports.
One of the fastest growing retailers on the East Coast recently deployed an ERP cloud-based Oracle Fusion solution. Our client wanted a state of the art solution to support its accounting and finance backbone to assist in their fast-paced organic growth and multiple acquisitions. This new system is responsible for back-office services, with Financials and Fixed Assets centered on the General Ledger. This is a single Organization, single currency implementation handling several thousand transactions a month.
The main challenge for this project is to meet the requirements of multi-dimensional reporting. The firm’s management challenged the team to produce the standard financial reports (Profit and Loss, Income Statement, Budget vs. Actual, etc.) in the most flexible way possible, and in a manner that offers consistency across the reports even when run at different times.
The Squires Group team delivered a solution to the challenge by implementing extracts out of Oracle Fusion into multi-dimensional database EssBase, with a focus on pre-defined General Ledger hierarchies. Once properly configured with EssBase Studio, the scheduled extracts provided the baseline data necessary for the various reports.
A Federal Civilian Agency’s business center was set up as a Federal Shared Services Provider. In September 2014, this Federal Agency was awarded a contract to on-board multiple Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies into their shared Oracle Applications Solution. The first three agencies are scheduled to be on-boarded in a staggered release, over the course of three years.
The main challenge of this project is to meet the client requirements with existing features of the standard Application to the largest extent possible, and avoid the path of “customizations” wherever practical. Avoiding a large scope of customization pays off over time as patches can be applied more readily, vendor support can be leveraged more effectively and upgrades will then be more technical in nature and therefore run more smoothly.
To overcome the challenge, the Prime Integrator for this project turned to The Squires Group, Inc. (TSGi) to deliver a local team of Oracle experts with the knowledge and skills that would be capable of leading all tasks in multiple functional areas.
Our prime integrator partner invited us to assist them in delivering the right talent to support and help upgrade the functionality of the Ariba Requisitioning and Procurement COTS product.
The system currently supports more than 33,000 users across 264 posts and 176 countries. It also accounts for more than $10 billion in annual procurement spent across more than 450,000 transactions. We delivered a proven team of Oracle experts to help develop Oracle’s highest volume transaction system in the world. This project team is comprised of both senior functional and technical resources with expertise in Oracle Federal Financials—all delivered locally from the Mid-Atlantic region which helped the client reduce travel costs associated with a large consulting team. At its peak, we had over 30 consultants that were participating in all aspects of the functional and technical solution.
As part of the transition to a SAAS model, our client was looking to add a strong Change Management and Training expert to roll out the full functionality and assist the user base to transition from PeopleSoft to Workday HCM. After the Workday functionality was configured, our client needed a Workday change management and training expert that would help them with the creation of instructional design (using UPerform) and would conduct computer based training in classroom training sessions. TSGi was able to rapidly deliver a local training expert who had over a decade of PeopleSoft HCM training experience particularly in the areas of training analysis, design, development and delivery services.
A Higher Education University was in the process of upgrading its PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) and Financials from version 8.9 to 9.1 in order to better support their core systems operations. TSGi was tasked with identifying an experienced consultant that would work in a key support role on the Contracts and Grants module upgrade.TSGi identified the right consultant with 14 years’ experience as a Functional PeopleSoft expert and with specific knowledge in the Contracts and Grants modules. Our consultant brought experience leading teams on several 9.1 upgrade projects.
Our client’s program is part of an overall effort to share critical business and mission-relation information with key audiences including: federal, state, and local law enforcement, foreign partners, intelligence, defense, homeland security and the private sector. The Squires Group team has been supporting this project since its inception. The Squires Group team was able to understand the new requirements and issues, test different components, and develop and execute test cases.
This project was the culmination of a federal civilian agency’s effort to institute an enterprise-wide supply chain management system. The project consisted of five main modules: Requisitioning, Procurement, Asset Management, Warehouse Operations, and Transportation. All modules featured extensive integration with the agency’s financial management systems and incorporated embedded status tracking information.
