UPK/OnDemand Supporting Oracle Federal Financials Training
Client: Federal Agency

We provided a training team to support a Federal agency's training requirement for their Oracle Federal Financials implementation. Our team worked closely with the project’s leadership to reassess the scope of the training effort. The resulting effort revealed a need to redefine and train 1,100 users and provide documentation on 185 Oracle procedures.

We recognized the need to create a greater amount of material within a shorter timeframe, and thus recommended UPK/OnDemand software which allows the creation of procedural documentation at increased speeds with additional output formats.

By utilizing UPK, our training team was able to meet the client's training goals by documenting 185 Oracle procedures in AP, AR, BE, Fed Admin, GL, PO, and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting. The Team created 14 Instructor Led Training courses to train over 600 users, and created 22 Online Training courses to train an additional 300 users.

Our use of UPK also provided further documentation capabilities through the creation of multiple output formats from a single recording session of a procedure. These include a customized context-sensitive help (Player) package linked directly to the Oracle application, a set of procedural job aids (Tip Sheets), and role-specific OLT courses through a set of Learning Management System (LMS) packages. These OLT courses were linked to 1100 learning plans through the agency's LMS.

As a result of our efforts… our client received a highly flexible, cost-effective response to their training requirement. By applying our creativity and deep Oracle expertise, we provided training and education support through 25 post-go-live workshops, help desk sessions, and individual training sessions. The client was, therefore, able to provide a blended learning solution of Instructor Led Training, Online Training, and workshops to best meet each user’s preferred learning method.

Another significant payoff was that all training materials were housed in a repository that was responsive to future functionality and policy upgrades to the Oracle Financials implementation.
