Why Us | ERP Implementations: PeopleSoft
Federal Civilian Agency
PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Implementation
This project was the culmination of a Federal Civilian Agency's effort to institute an enterprise-wide supply chain management system. The project consisted of five main modules: Requisitioning, Procurement, Asset Management, Warehouse Operations, and Transportation. All modules featured extensive integration with the agency’s financial management systems and incorporated embedded status tracking information.
The Challenge
As part of the project, the agency needed to implement a cost and time saving logistics system by creating and implementing PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain systems across their enterprise. This was a 24x7 operation which took their supply chain and logistics systems and made the data accessible and integrated it with their financials.
The Solution
Experienced PeopleSoft and Ariba experts with Secret/Top Secret clearances were needed to support the implementation. The TSGi team supported the following project goals: Integration of the logistics supply chain, providing visibility into relevant data for all users, and modernizing business processes.
Oracle Database Administration
We also added an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to the team to handle multifunctional database projects, including the administering of production, development, and test databases. The DBA was also responsible for the tuning, maintenance, and installation for PeopleSoft Portal, PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft EPM, Ariba Buyer, Ariba Contracts Workbench, webMethods, and Momentum Acquisitions
PeopleSoft Administration
TSGi provided a Senior PeopleSoft Administrator to build, configure, debug, and support PeopleSoft applications as well as work on all phases of the project including development testing and production support. The Administrator worked with Infrastructure team members (Network NT, Oracle DBAs and Windows Administrators) to build and deliver services in a stable and secure multi-instance environment.
HP LoadRunner Engineering
HP LoadRunner Engineers were brought in to maintain performance engineering scripts and to execute the scripts against new code releases and technical architecture changes. This allowed them to evaluate performance impacts. The HP LoadRunner scripts were needed for the PeopleSoft Financials and Ariba Buyer components of the software system. As the code base underwent changes, the scripts were slightly modified to continue functioning.
Crystal Reports Development
Crystal Reports Developers were also needed to create reports out of the FleetWave Database and to write, review, and execute test scripts for FMIS User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The Developers also performed data entry and research using various systems and tracking tools.
Tier 2 Help Desk
The TSGi provided PeopleSoft and Ariba Tier 2 Help Desk support. The Help Desk staff helped with technical application support for multiple e-logistics systems. These systems include procurement, acquisition and asset tracking software.
Testing
Squires also provided testing support. Testers experienced in both Ariba and PeopleSoft were brought on to create test case scenarios, to write test scripts, execute tests, and document findings. The tests were done in training and then in staging.
Data Archiving
TSGi also provided Data Archiving support to the project. Our Expert was the main contributor to the technical initiative. Their goal was to develop an overall data archiving strategy for the client’s Logistics Management Project. The two main applications that need to be archived were Ariba Buyer 8.2 and PeopleSoft Financials 8.4 (current)/Financials 9.0 (future).
The Benefit
Due to the efforts of the TSGi team, the client was able to experience the following benefits:
- Supply Chain Visibility
- Supply Chain Integration
- Modernized Business Processes
- A Centralized Database
- Improved Management Controls
- Domestic Financial Integration
- Improved Efficiencies
