PeopleSoft 9.0 HCM and Financials Implementation

A non-profit public policy organization was implementing PeopleSoft Human Resources, Grants and Projects, Procure-to-Pay, Core Financials, and Time Entry to support their core systems operations. They needed an outside firm to assist in the many facets of the implementation. These activities included business process analysis, refinement, system design and engineering, development, testing, integration, training, sustainment, maintenance, and follow-on support.

Eighteen PeopleSoft 9.0 modules across both Financials and HCM were being implemented including:  Benefits, e-Procurement, Purchasing, Asset Management, Payroll Interface, Time Admin, Time Entry, Planning and Analysis, Pre-Award Setup and Grants Budgeting, Grants Award and Post Award, Program Management Setup, Resource Management, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing and General Ledger.

TSGi was asked to provide a Project Manager to support key aspects of the implementation. The Manager’s key tasks included overseeing the software release management activities; reporting project activities to the CIO on a daily basis; interfacing with third party vendors, and facilitating the steering committee meetings.

In addition, a team of functional experts were provided to support the fit-gap analysis, design, configuration and testing and production support of the PeopleSoft Grants Suite modules (Grants, Project Costing, and Contracts).

Technical Development work included the development of all customizations to the PeopleCode, SQR’s and Application Engine processes, per project specifications.  This included the Integration Broker Messaging between the Financials and HCM systems to synchronize the data.  The team also analyzed data, including configuration and system process issues across the modules.

As a result of our efforts. Our client was able to successfully go-live with the new system in August 2010. This has allowed our client to process revenue recognition properly for grants against funder's project activities in a timely manner for contracts; process research and non-research project data at appropriate activity levels with a better project tree structure; and report financials on a more detailed level for ongoing future system transactions. TSGi continues to support the client in the areas of Project Management, Functional Analysis, Technical Development, System Administration and Training across all the PeopleSoft modules.
