20 Things You Didn't Know About The Squires Group – Part 1

Here at The Squires Group, we are thrilled to be celebrating our 20-year anniversary. For two decades now we have been connecting talented job seekers with motivated employers and innovating the way that recruiting works. On the occasion of our anniversary, we wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to the people, places, and events that have helped make our company what it is:

  1. Our very first client was the Texas-based Sequent Computers. We realized early on that IT staffing was a time- and labor-intensive process for employers, and we set out to do things better.
  2. We had twelve clients in 1996. That is not bad for a one-year-old company, but we have grown a lot since then and have helped dozens upon dozens of companies satisfy their staffing requirements.
  3. We operate a department dedicated exclusively to recruiting accounting and finance professionals. This was not our original focus, but it’s an area we quickly realized was desperate for effective staffing solutions.
  4. Account Manager, Berry Sprague’s favorite holiday is Halloween. Everyone in the office looks forward to her costumes, and we are counting down the days until the end of October to see what she shows up as this year.
  5. Nancy moved to Annapolis because she absolutely loves to water ski. Some people move for work and some people move for water sports. Regardless of the reason, we love having Nancy on the team.
  6. Resource Manager, Dave Nodonly does great impersonations. Two of his favorites are Scooby Doo and Droopy Dog, but his talents are not limited to four-legged friends.
  7. Controller, Mike Parker is an avid water skier and bicyclist. We are always trying to get him and Nancy to team up for a routine, but we haven’t been able to convince them yet.
  8. Director of Strategic Solutions, Rich Dobyns was a merchant marine and had already traveled around the world by the age of 21. Out of all the exotic settings he experienced, he decided to make Annapolis his home.
  9. Nancy successfully placed Apurva Shah at NIC Commerce in 2000 – his first job in the U.S. He proved to be such an amazing talent that he is now our Operations and Marketing Manager.
  10. Director of Business Development, Chad Chasser used to work for one of our suppliers – NESS Global – but decided to make the move from Pittsburgh to work for The Squires Group. We still consider this one of our greatest recruiting achievements.
