Celebrating Go-Live on a Complex SAP Implementation

In 2015 a regional Utility approached The Squires Group to support them on a complex SAP implementation. One of the major challenges that they encountered was fully staffing the project team from existing resources. So, they teamed with The Squires Group, Inc. (TSGi) to bring in consultants to augment their internal subject matter experts in several key areas.

These key areas were technical as well as functional in nature. They helped the deployment of SAP’s customer relationship and billing software, Workforce Scheduling and Optimization, and SAP’s Mobile Work Manager application services. In addition, our client required an independent team to lead all aspects of the testing efforts for this project.

We are pleased to announce that this mission critical project went live in December of 2016! The Squires Group consultants performed the following key tasks on this SAP project:

  • Provided application functional/technical support and implementation support
  • Wrote and reviewed functional and technical design specifications
  • Identified and reported development issues
  • Collaborated with cross-functional teams on integration issues and developed solutions to these issues
  • Continually enhanced or improved business systems processes that drove efficiency through best practices
  • Wrote, reviewed and executed test scenarios, cases, and scripts
  • Executed quality assurance from test definition through assessment sign off
  • Provided knowledge transfer support for configuration

The new SAP application helped replace a decades-old mainframe billing solution, along with its scheduling and dispatch mobile workforce solution, with a single, integrated and more efficient platform. The new solution is expected to help reduce integration complexity across the company’s billing and customer service IT applications.

Kudos to our team of 25+ consultants that worked nights and weekends to make sure the project went live in December. Some of our consultants played key roles in managing critical functionality development within the application.

Our team continues to provide support during the post go-live period as issues are identified by the business users.
