Happy New Year from Nancy's desk!

This year was a challenge for all of us at TSGi. I know many of you felt it, too. Budget reductions in several key Federal accounts were directly affected with the changes in Administration. However, never to be deterred and always determined, TSGi wisely stayed focused on the future.

As a result, TSGi has many solid proposals in the pipeline and a plethora of new and pending clients – both Federal and Commercial (nope, not “fake news!”). These opportunities include: a PeopleSoft HR shared services project; standing up a new Cyber Command; a major upgrade of a telecommunication and networking system; and, staffing of one of the most advanced Security Operations Centers (SOC) on the planet.

As I reflect on the year, I thank all of Team-Squires for your continued hard work and dedication to our client’s success. Your commitment to excellence combined with your professionalism, consistent performance and the ability to deliver, has cemented TSGi’s position as a “Trusted Advisor” in our industry.

2017 Highlights:

  • The Squires Group was recognized in the Washington Business Journal as #10 Top Staffing Companies in the Washington Metro area. We were also listed in the Baltimore Business Journal as #7 on the Top 50 Woman-Owned Business and #70 on the Top 100 Privately-Held Companies lists. I’m proud of our team that continues to receive accolades like this from market-leading publications.
  • We continue to support a large SAP project that helped transition one of our client’s mission-critical systems, to the really big-leagues. As the lead sub-contractor on that project, our team helped ensure that the system went live and delivered expected results. Today, our team continues to support post-production go-live activities and is well positioned for additional projects and enhancements in 2018.
  • Our career placement business had a great year. Along with our Accounting and Finance division, many of our staffing clients requested our help in acquiring full time employees. Consequently, we experienced a 54% growth in the perm-placement sector of our business in 2017 and I anticipate this area will continue to exceed expectations in the coming years.
  • We recently migrated our accounting and timekeeping system from Deltek’s GCS to CostPoint. As you know, major financial system upgrades like this are never easy – but Mike, Del and Sandi worked diligently to ensure the conversion went live with only minor hiccups. Thanks to each of you for your efforts in learning the new system as quickly as you could.
  • In 2017, we undertook another major project – re-designing our website. Our last upgrade went live in January 2014. While our current website is great, website technology is constantly evolving. So, we wanted a refresh. Eric and Apurva have spearheaded this effort, along with a NY design firm that we love and the finishing touches are going into production. We anticipate go-live in January. It’s a really cool, fun, innovative website that you’ll be proud of.

Leaving the best until last, our Big Cheese, Eric Galasso, won SmartCEO’s Executive Management Award (EMA) this year. Most of you know that Eric is very passionate about our business, has positive energy to spare, has creative ideas like no other in our business and he loves “out of the box thinking.” Eric is the thought leader behind our being a “Trusted Advisor” to our clients and consultants, which is the crux of our new BUILD GREAT campaign. This award is well deserved and we’re quite proud of him. Congratulations again, Eric!

To quote one of my favorite mentors, Mike Conk, The Squires Group wishes each of you and yours, “peace and blessings” now and for the years to come.

Happy 2018 and beyond,

Nancy Squires, Founder/CEO
