Federal Workday Finance & Adaptive Planning Support

The Client

Federal Agency

Our client, a Federal Civilian Agency, was in the process of strengthening its Workday Operations & Maintenance (O&M) support. The goal was to ensure seamless production support, enhance system functionality, and develop new solutions to better serve its enterprise-wide Human Capital Management and Financial Management operations.

This agency was in the early stages of optimizing its Workday Operations & Maintenance (O&M) environment—a key step in modernizing its human capital and financial systems. Because Workday was still relatively new across the Federal space, the agency needed an experienced professional with deep Workday Adaptive Planning expertise to ensure smooth operations, reliable forecasting, and ongoing enhancements.

The Technology

Legacy Systems to be Transformed/ Transitioned/ Integrated:

  • Workday Finance
  • Workday Adaptive Planning
  • Workday Integrations (Studio, EIB)
  • Operations & Maintenance (O&M)

The Challenge

Our Federal client engaged The Squires Group, Inc. (TSGi) to deliver a Senior Workday Finance and Adaptive Planning Analyst capable of leading enhancements and supporting ongoing production operations. Specifically, a senior consultant who could step in quickly and bring the expertise needed to stabilize, maintain, and enhance the Workday environment. The Federal clearance and security requirements required by our client added another layer of complexity to our search efforts.

At the time, Workday was relatively new within the Federal space, so finding consultants who not only understood the platform but also had experience supporting it in a Federal environment was extremely challenging.

The Solution

Leveraging our deep understanding of Workday products and implementations, TSGi launched a targeted nationwide search to zero in on top-tier Workday consultants. We expanded beyond traditional regional market searches to reach specialized consultants with Workday Adaptive Planning backgrounds who also understood the compliance and reporting standards of large organizations.

Ultimately, TSGi delivered a Senior Workday Consultant possessing both CPA credentials and extensive expertise in Workday Adaptive Planning. With their financial background, our consultant would not only be able to handle the complex integrations and reporting requirements, but would also bring a deep understanding of financial systems and analysis to the project team.

The Success

Our consultant proved to be a key consultant for the agency’s modernization program and quickly became a top contributor to the client’s Workday team, supporting daily operations, troubleshooting production issues, and developing new financial reporting solutions. The enhancements that they delivered improved forecasting accuracy, reduced manual reporting, and increased overall system reliability. Our consultant was also able to streamline the agency’s reporting cycles, while enhancing their forecasting accuracy, and overall helped improve system performance and user adoption.

By broadening our search beyond regional limits to find a rare blend of expertise —a Workday expert with a CPA background—TSGi delivered the right Senior Consultant to play a key role in keeping this critical Federal financial system running smoothly and efficiently.
