iOS App Development Eliminates Paper Processing of Reporting

The Client

Federal Civilian

This project was the culmination of a Federal Civilian Agency’s effort to institute an enterprise‐wide supply chain management system. The project consisted of five main modules: Requisitioning, Procurement, Asset Management, Warehouse Operations, and Transportation. All modules featured extensive integration with the agency’s financial management systems and incorporated embedded status tracking information.

The Technology

  • Mobile Application Development
  • iOS
  • Xcode
  • REST Web Services Integration
  • Agile Development

The Challenge

Our prime integrator partner invited TSGi to assist them in creating a mobile application that would help the Federal Agency’s fleet drivers to complete a vehicle maintenance inspection checklist using a mobile application instead of the current paper-based process. The goal was to integrate the daily and weekly inspection checklists into an iOS app. Once integrated into the application, these paper inspections will no longer be needed and the process will be streamlined.

The Solution

TSGi successfully identified a diverse group of skilled Mobile Application Developers to complement the existing team. Given the limited pool of regional Mobile Application Developers, we utilized our sourcing tools and expanded our search to find the right concentration of iOS development talent. Consequently, we identified proven resources with the skill mix that could support the project remotely. Some of the areas supported by our team include:

  • Development, enhancement, and bug fixes for a suite of enterprise mobile applications
  • Development, unit-testing, break/ fix investigation, and delivery of enhancements to native iOS apps, hybrid iOS apps, and web apps based on client requirements
  • Collaborate with web service developers to develop integration with other software systems
  • Provide support during testing, UAT, and go-live
  • Develop the code in Swift and Objective C using Xcode

The Success

As a result of this project, the end user is achieving significant time savings because of the elimination of daily/ weekly checklists, automatic integration of data into a central database (previously paper entries were entered or scanned by hand) and a faster method of completing the required checklists.
