Project Accountant Direct Hire to Support the Rapid Growth of a Global Engineering and Consulting Firm

The Client

Global Engineering and Consulting firm

Our client is an engineering and general contracting firm with thousands of complex ongoing projects around the globe. They are a market leader in their space and are passionate about their work and their clients. They have offices in most major markets in the US and overseas. They are currently in a rapid growth cycle and have partnered with our firm to provide them guidance and provide talent to support their accounting and finance teams.

The Technology

  • Revenue Recognition
  • Cost Accounting
  • Project Accounting
  • Month-end Closing

The Challenge

Our client was in need of a Project Accountant to join their team and be part of their fast growing and high energy company. The position involved overseeing thousands of construction projects annually. In addition to looking for hard skills required for this position – possess relevant accounting experience including revenue recognition analysis, cost accounting, and month-end closing; of equal importance was their ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment while maintaining their focus.
The Hiring Manager also expected his staff to be able to work independently, but was willing to serve as a mentor. There was tremendous growth potential for the right individual in this position.

The Solution

Using our proprietary In The Perfect Space (ITPS)TM methodology, our dedicated Account Manager, Berry Sprague, was able to identify the top hard and soft skills needed for a successful hire that could hit the ground running. By drilling into the details, Berry identified that our client would only consider candidates from the similar work environment.

So, our recruiting team first set up a list of competitors, who operate in our client’s market. Our team then spent time identifying and interviewing candidates from those companies that would fit our client’s fast-paced environment.

After a thorough screening process, we identified the right candidate who started their career in the project accounting field and had experience working with two prominent competing firms before joining our client. The candidate is sharp, has years of industry experience, and was looking to join a larger firm with a larger volume of activity.

This position turned out to be a perfect match for the candidate. Once our client interviewed the candidate and decided that this was the right person for the position skill-wise and culturally, they made the decision to extend an offer to our candidate.

The Success

Once our client extended the offer to our candidate, we facilitated the information exchange of what both sides were seeking so as to ensure smooth onboarding.
Soon after starting in the new position, our candidate was able to hit the ground running and was able to take on additional responsibilities and lighten the heavy work load of the team members. Because of her strong cultural fit within the client organization, she is enjoying working with the team and has successfully made process improvements and streamlined procedures. Our client is very happy with her contribution and is looking forward to seeing her grow along with the company.
