The Challenge

For several months, they had been operating short a Senior Accountant and this was beginning to take a toll on the team. The internal recruiting team was given the task to identify the right candidate to add to the team. When the recruiting team was unable to identify any viable candidates, the hiring manager contacted us to assist in the search.

The Solution

Our experienced Resource Management team conducted an initial analysis of the available talent in the DC/ Baltimore metro areas and quickly realized that the competition for that skill set was stiff. So, we quickly expanded our search to look at candidates that were willing to relocate to this region.

We presented a candidate who lived out-of-state, but whose military spouse had recently been relocated to the BWI area. She had several years of accounting experience in different areas of commerce.

The client was impressed with our candidate who was professional and detail oriented and quickly made her a generous offer. She was attracted to the work atmosphere, the exceptional benefits and the opportunities for advancement. Additionally, the timing was ideal for her move.

The only hiccup was that she was waiting for a final interview with another firm before she could commit to this opportunity. Our Resource Manager, Ed, recognized the dilemma and helped by facilitating that decision-making process. Since the other interview was not scheduled for a few more days, Ed played the role of a trusted advisor and asked our candidate to talk to the other company and try to move up the interview date. The other company, quickly realizing the competing situation, preponed the interview and they too made an offer.

The candidate picked our client’s Senior Accountant opportunity because of the role, the potential to grow with our client, and most importantly for her – the cultural fit.

The Success

The candidate came from a corporate accounting environment and has experience with journal entries, reconciliations, consolidations, and the close process. This allowed our candidate to hit the ground running without much of a ramp up period.

Our client offers an excellent work/life balance and this addition helped relieve the mounting stress on the team’s bandwidth. From our candidate’s perspective, they were looking to make a move with short notice from the military. We were able to help them navigate them through a stressful period, multiple interviews, and find a company that offered an excellent culture which was the candidate’s main motivator.

Because of our success in delivering the Senior Accountant, our client has engaged our firm on new requirements.
