Senior Accountant Helped Fill The Gap Created By An Internal Promotion

The Client

Our client is a Baltimore County-based healthcare organization that is a leading provider of mobile bedside diagnostic services. With over 7,000 facilities nationwide and three decades of business of experience, our client has continuous needs for innovative talent solutions.

The Challenge

When one of our hiring manager’s employees was quickly promoted in their accounting department, it left a gap in their team because the employee was assigned to another division. Since our hiring manager did not have an immediate replacement, they ended up performing double duty. As a result, they needed to work long hours and juggle multiple priorities to continue to provide excellent service to their internal customers.

When the Controller recognized that they needed a talent solution, they immediately reached out to Berry Sprague and The Squires Group because of their long-standing relationship. Their request was to quickly provide a Senior Accountant to fill the gap created by the recent promotion. The main responsibility of this position entailed the month-end and year-end process for the division close, reconciliations and general ledger work. The ideal candidate would also work closely with both upper management and the operations teams to manage the financial needs and costs of the department.

As an added incentive for a qualified candidate, our client offered excellent potential for advancement since they continue to expand their business operations at a rapid pace.

Senior Accountant Key Skills:

  • General Ledger

The Solution

Berry immediately engaged Ed Kennedy, Accounting & Finance Resource Manager at The Squires Group in a conference call with the Controller to capture our IN THE PERFECT SPACE TM (ITPS) information. ITPS is our proprietary methodology that combines the science and art of sourcing top flight candidates.

Finding a qualified candidate quickly was critical since the hiring manager continued to work double duty. Within 48 hours of receiving the request, Ed reached out to his network of both active and passive candidates that fit the ideal profile. As a next step, he presented a candidate who not only possessed all the necessary accounting skills, but also offered a background in healthcare. They were organized, detail oriented and able to assimilate new information and processes quickly at new environments.

Two interviews and 72 hours later, the client made an offer of employment to our candidate and our candidate accepted.

The Success

With our candidate joining their team, their hiring needs were met, and stability returned to the group. The client was very impressed with their quick “ramp-up” and the collaboration that they offered to the group. As an added bonus, their healthcare background and bi-lingual skills added even more value to their firm as they were able to hit the ground running from day one!
